Margaritaville to host Big Game Bash on Friday Night Posted Jan 11th 2008 2:41PM by Ken Spalasso & Jeff Townsend, SBPHQ Staff UPDATE: CHECK OUT OUR INTERVIEW HERE WITH THE PROMOTER Already with a huge star-studded committed guest list, the first major entertainment act has been added. Celebrity DJ Idris Elba (aka: DJ Big Driis), star of the HBO hit 'The Wire' and most recently in the Denzel Washington hit "American Gangster', will be working the wheels of steel at Jimmy Buffett's world-renowned Margaritaville on Friday February 1st. The appearance will be Elba's only Super Bowl week appearance in Phoenix as he is already working the Tyra Banks- hosted Essence Magazine party on Wednesday Jan 31st in Los Angeles. Elba will be seen in several 2008 released movies including "RocknRolla", starring Gerard Butler and Jeremy Piven and "The Human Contract", which was written and directed by Jada Pinkett Smith and also stars Ted Danson. Hosted by sports management agency Maximum Sports Management (MSM), the MSM Big Game Bash takes place on Friday, February 1st at Jimmy Buffett’s 20,000 square foot restaurant/club Margaritaville in Glendale, Arizona. The real draw for this party, aside from the premium bar, Mini Cheeseburgers in Paradise, and Key Lime tartlets, is the ability to mingle with the 50+ sports stars that have already committed to be in attendance. The list of athletes, most of which are NFL players, is long and impressive – Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders, Curtis Martin, Devin Hester, Arizona's own Jennie Finch, Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward and many more. There will also be one rock star in attendance – Alice Cooper. Just added is the 1985 Chicago Bears' own Jim McMahon, New England Patriots player Richard Seymour, Deal or No Deal's Case Number One Model Claudia Jordan, and the women of the AVP tour. The cost to hang out with this many stars of the sports world and beyond is only $750. Be aware that tickets must be purchased before the event in order to be admitted. In attempting to create a VIP experience for all, attendees will have the ability to experience a red carpet entry on their way into the event. On the company's website, there is word of live entertainment being featured, but the only details are "tbd" for "to be determined." We will be among the first, if not the first to report the headliners, so check back here often. Margaritaville is very close to the University of Phoenix Stadium where Super Bowl XLII will take place but is some distance (20-30 minutes) from the bar scene of either Phoenix or Scottsdale. This means a special trip to Glendale in order to attend this special event, which may not be bad considering that the Westgate Complex where the party is at will be a major hub of Super Bowl Week activity. The silent auction should be exciting for football fans since there will be numerous autographed jerseys from the likes of Deion Sanders, Hines Ward, Curtis Martin and other NFL players. There will be nine charities that will be beneficiaries of the evening including the Pat Tillman Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Contact the official party website at http://www.msmbiggamebash.com/index.htm, if you have any questions. Time: Friday, February 1 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
