Gridiron Greats to Party it up at Hotel Scottsdale Posted Jan 15th 2008 4:11PM by Jeff Townsend, SBPHQ Staff The ‘Gridiron Greats Super Jam’ is a party organized by Coach Mike Ditka and other NFL legends that is all about raising funds to assist former NFL players who are in bad physical health. The main beneficiary of this event will be the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund which provides financial assistance and coordination of social services to retired players who are in dire need due to a variety of reasons including inadequate disability and/or pensions. NFL legend Jerry Kramer, who played for the legendary Vince Lombardi on the Super Bowl I and II teams, facilitated the formation of the organization. The event consists of a star-studded VIP party along with a special musical performance. There will be many NFL legends at the party, mingling with the crowd, and hanging out for the evening. Attendees scheduled to appear include: Mike Ditka, Franco Harris, Ed ‘Too Tall’ Jones, Dwight Clark, Harry Carson, Dick Butkus, Eric Dickerson, and Jerry Kramer. In total, over 30 NFL legends are expected to attend this event. As part of the entertainment, there will be a special once-in-a-lifetime rock-n-roll jam session consisting of the following musicians: Paul Rodgers (Bad Co. & Queen), Pat Travers, Erick Martin (Mr. Big), Jack Blade (Night Rangers), Johnny Gunn (Eddie Money), and Donny Baldwin (Jefferson Starship). The entertainment portion of the evening will be hosted by CMT's Cowboy Troy. This party serves as the grand finale for the Gridiron Greats Championship weekend. Starting Wednesday, Gridiron Greats is presenting a different event each day that all will serve to benefit the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund. Here is a quick summary of their other events.
